The Cadet Program provides an opportunity for men and women who wish to pursue a career in law enforcement to obtain valuable training in police work.

The duties assigned are diverse, giving the cadet a well-rounded experience, and exposure to and appreciation for the full breadth of the law enforcement process. Assigned throughout the department, cadets perform such duties encompassing everything from administrative and clerical work up to tasks like parking enforcement and patrol of our city parks. Cadets will not be assigned to ride with a regular, sworn officer as a duty assignment. However, cadets may ride with a regular officer when being transported to job assignments or while in training.

Beyond this real-world knowledge and experience, cadets are expected to gain a reliable knowledge of the streets in the City, the procedures of the department, the functions of the various units within the department, and how these relate to one another.
